Our Story
Our Story
Growing up, my family lived in a small town nestled in the heart of Colombia's Andes Mountains. Transportation was challenging and often hazardous, keeping us isolated from larger cities and their resources. My mother was a teacher of a rural school, and she complemented their incomes making clothes. My mother took it upon herself to learn sewing, crafting clothes not only for our family but for other families in town as well. She often took me along to her classes, where I delighted in watching her create. Sometimes, she even sold her handmade pieces to our neighbors, helping support our family.
Years later, I pursued accounting and gained knowledge of business, but I never forgot my mother’s dedication and the inspiration she instilled in me to one day build my own dream. When I got engaged, I made the decision to leave my job and start my own wedding business, all while planning my wedding. On December 1, 2010, “Orquideas Dresses” was born, designed to serve Latin American weddings with elegance and care. It’s been a journey of growth and learning ever since.
In 2015, we moved to the United States for work, and shortly after, I became a mother for my second kid. My son’s arrival led me to dedicate myself fully to caring for him. Meanwhile, we began planning a new business, this time focusing on products for children and mothers.
By 2018, I found a new source of inspiration and empowerment in Adelante Mujeres, a nonprofit organization in Oregon. Their support encouraged me to follow my dreams and continue pursuing our goals.
This business is dedicated to my mother, my daughter, my son, and my dear husband—all of whom inspire me every day.
